Curtin College Ball 2013
Feather boas, top hats, lacey gloves and plastic guns all accessorised smart suits and stunning ball gowns at the third annual Curtin College Ball on Saturday June 29th at Perth’s Parmelia Hilton. Codenamed the ‘Bond Ball’ guests were required to provide their own secret agent code name on arrival to go into the lucky door prize of chocolates, movie tickets, and a complimentary night at the Hilton Hotel!
In between courses at the buffet the 75 guests enjoyed games and entertainment organised by the Curtin College Student Leader team, where they had to test their James Bond knowledge and work together to hunt down an evil mastermind amongst them!
The dance floor was then formally opened by b-boy extraordinaire Martin Eng with his impressive breakdancing moves. Students and staff alike then joined him on the dance floor to enjoy the DJ’s tunes and their special requests.
Everyone was encouraged to show off their dance moves regardless of age or experience, which uncovered plenty of new talent that is not typically on display during lectures in classrooms!
Guests were also invited to have professional photos taken as individuals or groups to commemorate the special occasion with a beautiful souvenir of the night. You can view a selection of these on the Curitn College Pinterest Page.
Then, it was down to business – voting for the evening’s Best Dancers, Best Dressed, and Belle and Beau of the Ball. There was a great selection to choose from but the final tally of votes revealed:
Best Male Dancer: Martin Eng (Special mentions to Kean Hooi Teh and Jason Truong)
Best Female Dancer: Minnie Yi (Special mentions to Amrin Nathani and lecturer Khulile Dlamini)

Samuel Kaseke – Best Dressed MaleBest Dressed Male: Samuel Kudzai Kaseke (Special mention to Steward Sornapooman)
Best Dressed Female: Jennifer Lay Yin Tan (Special mention to lecturer Jacqueline Joschonek)
Belle of the Ball (‘Miss Congeniality’): Rebecca Ward
The Curtin College Bond Ball 2013 was an exciting night to enjoy great food, great friends, and great fun on a new level outside of our usual study pursuits. Students and staff alike are all looking forward to this special event again next year!
