Studying at Curtin College allows students to take advantage of many of the facilities and services provided by Curtin University. Access to the University environment ensures that students experience a smooth transition into tertiary study.
Listed below are some of the facilities available to you.
Curtin College classes are conducted on the Bentley campus of Curtin University in Perth. The College is housed in Building 205 in the heart of the campus. The building features two separate reception areas on both the ground floor and on the first level to accommodate for current and prospective student enquiries.
The Curtin campus offers a safe and friendly environment to pursue tertiary studies and is a self-contained student-oriented locality where everything students need is within easy walking distance. In addition to the multi-storey library and student bookshop, there are full banking facilities, a chemist, a medical centre, shops and markets, copy and design centre, hairdressing salon, childcare facilities, a world-class art gallery, state-of-the-art gymnasium and fitness centre and many active sports clubs and societies. Curtin College students are welcome to join in most aspects of University life and can become Associate Members of the Curtin Guild to gain on- and off-campus discounts and access to Guild clubs, competitions, events and campus sport.
There are at least 11 different eateries on the Curtin campus with choices including cafés, canteens (which serve Halal food) and a tavern that regularly stages live music.
Curtin’s new indoor, multi-purpose, health, recreation and events facility offers a co-ed gymnasium, ladies studio and group fitness studio with spin room, a sports hall and two outdoor volleyball courts. Curtin College students are welcome to become members of the facility.
The Health Services Centre incorporates a doctor’s surgery where students can make appointments with either a doctor or nurse. Nursing staff are available to assist in the treatment of accidents and injuries that may occur on campus.
Students at both the College and University have access to free and confidential chaplaincy services which are provided for the benefit of the Curtin community. Visiting Chaplains from a diversity of religious orientations are active on campus. Presently these include various Christian traditions including Anglican, Baptist and Roman Catholic and other traditions such as Baha’i, Buddhist and Muslim. A prayer and meditation space and a reflection garden are available for people of any faith. There is also a dedicated prayer space (Mushalla) for Muslims on campus. It has the appropriate ablution facilities and is freely accessible to students at all times for prayer. Halal food is also available on campus.
The Curtin Bookshop is located in the John Curtin Centre (Building 200). It stocks a wide range of textbooks, as well as stationery, newspapers, magazines, novels, cards, postage stamps, computer and mobile phone products. The Bookshop also provides dry-cleaning and photo processing services.
Curtin’s five-story Library is at the centre of the campus and houses the latest computer systems, information technology and resources. An Enquiries Desk is located on Level 3 where library staff are available to answer questions.
The bus station at the Bentley campus is one of the busiest in Perth, with seven different services stopping frequently during semester. The CircleRoute, which runs between Perth’s universities, train stations and shopping centres, stops every 15 minutes between 6:30am and 6:00pm on weekdays. Some buses, including the CircleRoute, connect with train services that run to the outer metropolitan area.
