The Student Leaders play a role in improving the overall experience for students studying at Curtin College. Their roles include planning, organizing, and running social and sporting activities for you! They are also publishing a Curtin College Magazine (CCM) which is designed and written by students for students.
The Student Leaders also represent the interest of students by raising issues to the college in matters affecting student experience and well-being.
Becoming a Student Leader is an excellent opportunity for students to further develop skills in leadership, teamwork and time management which are highly valued by employers. To become a Student Leader you must possess strong leadership, organizational and time-management skills and a commitment to developing and improving the student experience at the College. New Student Leaders are recruitment at the end of each trimester.

The student leaders organise a range of activities such as soccer matches, badminton tournaments, table tennis and snooker competitions. They have been active in charities such as organising a bbq or other events to collate funds for Queensland, Pakistan and Japan. Other fun events include lunchtime board games and challenges.

The Student Leaders at Curtin College run a basketball tournament for students every trimester. It is great fun so head on down to Curtin Stadium basketball court to shoot some hoops. Do you have what it takes to be this trimester's basketball team winner?
This is by far the most popular sporting tournament at Curtin College. Being held on an outdoor soccer pitch at Curtin University, students can enjoy Perth's nice weather and have a good kick with mates and show off some impressive soccer skills. So go round up your soccer mates for the next Curtin College soccer tournament and keep your eye on the trophy!
Students enjoy this tournament and some even consider it the favourite event organized by the Curtin College Student Leaders so far. Why? Because it has been a student versus Curtin College staff tournament! Have your badminton racquet on standby for the next upcoming tournament and word is that there might even be a staff versus student volleyball on the cards!
Asides from all the sporting events run by Student Leaders, there are other great social activities Curtin College students get to participate and enjoy, which include a Pool Night, Pizza Lunches, and Christmas Carols.
Here are some of the events that Student Leaders will be organizing this trimester:
For more information all of the events and activities, email leaders@curtincollege.edu.au or check out Curtin College Facebook and Twitter page. Posters regarding each event will be posted up around the College so keep an eye out for them.

Winner: Oliver Goh Chunn Keat, Diploma of Engineering student
The photo submitted by Oliver Goh Chunn Keat, studying Diploma of Engineering at the College, was the favourite among students and staff in all the fantastic entries submitted, which makes him the next lucky winner! Oliver’s inspiration? He has always wanted to capture a photo at Kings Park by the Memorial's lookout and in his words “so here it is!”
Deadline: Monday 23rd April, 12 noon
Life as a student involves being responsible and looking after yourself without your family around. One of the things most students do is cook at home, as eating out daily can be an expensive and unwise exercise. So… dear Curtin College student - how do you ‘Cook without mum’?
As a student, you’d probably be scratching your head from time to time asking “what shall I have for dinner?” Or you could be an expert in the kitchen and have created a fusion of different recipes! And if you are living with fellow students this could involve regular discussions surrounding grocery shopping and exchanging cool recipes, or embarking on ‘team projects’ to organize the kitchen workspace for the next cooking session. This week’s theme “Cooking without mum” will be a fun theme to explore, so you can definitely get your creative juices flowing!
As you think about which unique angle to snap for this week’s theme, remember, ‘creativity’ and ‘originality’ are the keywords to help you win. So you can get your housemates together all dressed up in chefs hats and aprons and photographed in action preparing a delicious cuisine, or if you’d rather just capture the dishes, then photograph your creations in the most visually appetizing manner that will collect the most number of ‘Likes’ from staff and students!
Don’t forget to upload your photos onto the College Facebook Page and collect as many likes as you can for your chance to be the week’s winner and to be featured on the website. So….get Ready, Steady….Cook!
Ps: Multiple entries per student allowed. And you don’t have to be included in the photo. For full details, download a copy of the above poster.
